I have Dark oak wood floors in my foyer/hall/1.5 bath.

There is nothing wrong with the floor, it is just dated. Is there a method to lighten the color by bleaching or anything?

To remove stain you will need to sand off finish & existing stain down to bare wood. Then, you can apply surface finish on natural oak without stain. Natural oak has a pinkish/reddish color. You can stop by some flooring stores & see some oak flooring samples. Observe the characteristics of grain and color of natural red oak. Also, observe the samples that have stain. Perhaps you might like to restain with a lighter stain. If refinishing floors, go to the National Oak Flooring Manufacturer's website at www.nofma.org for refinishing instructions.
