Furniture and Furnishings - Fading Couch Fabric

We've had a sectional for just over a month now. It's a deep purple color. We've noticed that there are areas of the couch that have 'lightened' up. I'm not sure if this is usual for the color to lighten a bit as it's broken in or if there is some sun damage happening already? We have a couple of quarter round windows that are up high on the vaulted ceilings that has the sun run across sections of the living room. Any thoughts anyone??? :rolleyes:

Purple is one of the, if not the, most unstable colors
Highly senstive to light, and breaks down rather quickly
If, say the removable cushion is lightening, yet the arm it butts against is not, then thats because the fabric is from different dye lots
If it's the front part of the cushion, and the front part of the arm, it's from sun

It just seems to be normal fading. We had one of the furniture store's "techs" out today to fix a repair from a slight tear, and he said the same thing. Purple and red according to him fade the worst. Funny how they don't mention that when you're shopping. It's okay as long as they don't fade to white. :wall:

If it goes to white I think you could safetly say that's a defect
