4 days ago I had the honeywell professionally installed on my ele. heat pump. I have my fan on all the time (recommended by hvac guy checking tstat issue). Anyway, the installer set the humidstat (installed on the cold duct) at "6". The unit didn't seem to be coming on and humidifying. I put the unit on "test" mode. Directions say h2o should drain from drain hose. How long does it take for this to happen? I waited 20 minutes with no results. While on the phone with the installer the drain hose had water in it. I have moved the humidistat to level 8, my son woke up with a nose bleed and the static in our hair is crazy. Installer said it takes days to get results and not to move the level any higher(asking for more humidity). I still maintain the unit doesn't run enough. Any thoughts? I have a child with severly dry skin and this is very important to me that it works well. I can't tell if it is working and I can't get the installer to come back out..he says wait. Sincerely frustrated. P.S. Currently 5 degrees Windchill -10. Am I expecting too much?

I guess I should add...house is 2200 sq ft. 10 years old and no humidifer ever used. Installer claims ducts, walls, and wood absorbing all the humidity at this point. I have gone to the extend of measuring the humidity level by using the Downstairs Dehumidifier upstairs. Basement measures 25% humidity according to the digital reading on the dehum. Upstairs measures 20%. The unit measures in 5 degree incriments. After 4 days of humidifying...shouldn't the level be higher? Thanks

gosh..I'm sorry, I also forgot to ask...what does the 1 thru 10 stand for on the humidistat? Is 6 meaning 60% humidity. I have all the levels, settings, and outdoor temperature recommendations on the manual but it is greek to me...I don't have anything that tells me any percentages. I don't know what the level of humidity is in the house (except what the dehum indicates) and I certainly don't know what I am calling for it to be when I set the humidistat at 8. I am a little concerned that I am going to be calling for mold spores and a house like a sauna in a couple of days (ha ha). Seriously if it takes a week to bring the humidity level up...will it take a week to correct if I am "over doing it". I am about 80% convinced the unit isn't working anyway. I moved the thermostat setting up by 10 degrees and moved the humidistat to "test" mode and I never heard or saw any water draining from the humidifier. The house heated to 78 degrees and I couldn't take it any more. I turned the heat back to 70 and wrote to you guys.
