We just moved into our new home (the home itself is approx. 40 years old). The junction box appears to be the original and is 120V. We are having problems throughout the house with light bulbs continually blowing out. We are using the wattages as recommended per each fixture. Any suggestions as to why the bulbs keep blowing. Also, on some fixtures such as our ceiling fan, the bulbs are difficult to completely screw in and out, is there any way to ease this? Thanks in advance!

If you have a voltmeter, you might see if your voltage is unusually high.
If you're only getting an hour out of a light bulb, then I'd call the power company. But if you're getting three weeks, then I'd go to the home center and buy new bulbs marked "130V".
