I'm having a problem fixing the leak from a Delta Tub/Shower faucet which is only 5 years old. It's the assembly on this referenced site;
http://www.hammerzone.com/archives/...t/replseal.html
I bought and installed new springs/seats, reassembled and then it was even worse. When I turned the knob, the flow just slowed down. I've tried different orientations of the inner piece of the plastic body and the best I can do is get it back to about the same rate of leaking that I started out with.
I dissassembled again, this time I removed the valve body and I noticed that there is a slight gap between the 2 halves which may not be causing the problem. I did notice that there are groves in the plastic body to capture the valve body. Still have the same leak which by the way is hot water. I did make sure that as I turn the handle clockwise it goes from hot to cold and then the flow slows but still dribbles.
Should I just go out and get a whole new assembly or is there something less expensive that could be causing the assembly from forming a tight seat?
Thanks - Mark

If you are describing a pressure balanced assembly for 1300 series valves,
Does the water increase if you slightly turn the handle past off?
Is the back part of that assembly medium blue in color?
It sounds like you have a defective assembly if it didn't take a rebuild.
Call Delta; they will replace that assembly free of charge.

This is a 1400 series faucet.
I've tested after securing the assembly with the brass collar and using the plastic handle to see if as I turn it clockwise that it goes from cold to off. If I keep turning the handle the hot water leak increases and if I continue to turn it, of course it goes to max flow.
No - the back part of that assembly is not medium blue in color. The parts are plastic, off-white color, and there's a metal face plate that should be making the seal with the new spring/seats.
I agree that the assembly must be damaged/defective.
I'll call Delta and post with the outcome.
Thanks for the input!
