We use 2.4 Ghz wireless color cameras in our barn to observe our horses during foaling season. The "barn cam" has been down. Cant get a picture with it. We bought a cheap little surveillance system from Radio shack just to determine which part is broken. By process of elimination, we found that our "barncam" receiver is the bad part. This Radio shack setup is pretty decent....It works with my existing barncam cameras, and it has 4 channel setting so that 4 cameras can be used. This Radio shack set came with a camera also, and the camera is pretty good!

This helped us determine that our receiver is bad, but our cameras are working fine.

When I was using my "barncam" receiver (which is now broken) my cameras tuned in on channels 1 & 2.

Now that we are using the Radio shack receiver, they tune in on channels 2 & 3. The camera that came with the radio shack setup is set to channel 2.

I *think* that the barncam one must have an "autoswitch" feature, because this is mentioned on the website for the manufacturer of the receiver (Clover).

Channel settings for the barncam receiver are as follows:
CH1 : 2434 MHz
CH2 : 2453 MHz
CH3 : 2473 MHz
CH4 : 2411 MHz

The settings for the channels on the Radio shack receiver are not listed with the specs.

The Radio shack receiver apparently does not have autoswitch, and we have now got TWO cameras that are set for channel 2. When both are plugged in we get a distorted blend of both views together on the screen.

Is there a way to change the channel setting for one of these cameras so that it can be used over a third stall?

Furthermore, if I choose to purchase additional wireless cameras in the future, how will I be assured that they will be set to the proper channel?

If the settings can be changed, the info is in the setup manuals. The problem is that many of these simple camera systems are propriatory hardware. The fact that you have frequency overlaps is mostly due to the fact that these things have a pretty limited frequency spectrum to work with.

What brand and model are these cameras?

Hi
Thanks for your response.

The two cameras that were purchased (a year apart) for my "barncam" setup do not have identification on them, but they are each unique in appearance. Each of these has a transmitter in a box that is beside the camera, so I think this means that these are originally hardwired type cameras just set up with a transmitter.
The "barncam" receiver is Clover brand.
The "Radio Shack" set is Swann brand, and its camera has a tiny antenna on the camera itself instead of a separate transmitter.

Sorry but no brand name labels on those 2 original (but different) cameras.
