baseboard and trim

I'm in the midst of re modeling a bedroom in our home. The walls are plaster with 5" board at the base of the wall. Question is can this board removed? If so what can I use as a more decorative baseboard trim?

If you are talking about the baseboard, you can remove it and replace it with something more pleasing.

You could decorate it by adding a strip of small molding along the top of it.
