I need to get rid of scratches and water(alcohol?) ring mark on a bookstand.If it is shellac can I overcoat it with spray laquer after light sanding? It isn't antique but it is "federal style" with box inlays on top where I want to spiff it up to my daughters specs! I don't think varnish, polyurethane or laquer would have left these marks? :eek:
