Hi, I am planning on installing a whole house humidifier. I have enough space to mount the humidifier on the cold air return duct, however, I have no room to run a 6 inch bypass duct to the hot air duct, due to the flue and another pipe being in the way. I can't get behind the furnace either, unless I took out the water heater. I will be able to fit an oval duct into the hot air duct. Would it be ok to use this as a bypass?

Id say yes But if you do Id use a 7" pipe for where its oval. Are have a flat sq duct made o You would need that to make up the sq" in a 6" pipe . About 29sq"
I know it dont sound right but it is. Fill a small round can with water to the top now oval it a bit some water will run out.
