I want to build an 8' sq. deck with a covered roof. It's for a mobile home's back door, and was thinking of 4x4" post on a concrete pillar high enough for a flat roof. I'll use 2"x10" to band the floor and roof with gal. bolts to hold it all together. What do you all think about this?
Thanks

It does not amtter what we think.
It only matters what your building code will allow and how your building code office will administer that code.
So contact your local code office.
And, being a mobile home, it MAY be controlled by the State, not your local bldg. dept. Check with the local guys first. If it's out of their jurisdiction, they'll point you in the proper direction.
Best thing I ever heard...I had to do a addition estimate in a mobile home community, got all the info the homie wanted and stopped by the main office for the community to speak with the manager to see if any rules applied to what could and could'nt be done. He went on to give me some lot line measurements, etc...and went on to tell me "we dont need building permits here, it's private property" Did'nt get into it with him, but snikered to myself as I walked out and thought about all the homeowners and their "private property" that would love not to have a permit when doing construction. That park was within city limits, but inspection fell upon the county inspector for all inspections, having to deal with only 1 inspector was really nice, wish it was always that way!!!
So, as homebuild stated check your town hall's building dept. for exact code and make sure it fits within the "rules" of the trialer community if you happen to live in one.
