I want to know if 1" thick granite is to thick to be putting on my walls wood/plaster board around the outside of my fireplace? What is the maximum thickness one should put on a wall?

Most folks go with granite tiles on floors & walls.
3/8"(10mm) thick tile: 5.5 lbs sq. ft.
1/2"(12mm) thick tile: 6.5 lbs. sq. ft.
3/4"(20mm) thick slab: 12.8 lbs. sq. ft.
1 1/4"(30mm) thick slab: 18 lbs sq. ft.
3/8"(10mm) thick tile: 5.5 lbs sq. ft.
1/2"(12mm) thick tile: 6.5 lbs. sq. ft.
3/4"(20mm) thick slab: 12.8 lbs. sq. ft.
1 1/4"(30mm) thick slab: 18 lbs sq. ft.
