I'm installing a Humidifier on a UPFLOW furnace configuration and want to confirm a few things. I've installed the main portion of the Humidier on the on the cold air return and ran the bypass duct over to the hot air duct. Other members on the forum seem confused about this as well, but that's not my major issue if correct. I want to install the humidistat and am not sure where it should be located. The directions say upstream from the Humidier, would that be the Humidier unit or the bypass? I think it should go on the cold air so that it properly measures the mosture coming back in from the rest of the house. Any ideas? Would it matter if it were on the hot air duct? I am also installing a sail switch to shut the furnace off, but not sure where it should go, a simplier explanation would be appreciated. Thanks

A by pass unit can be mounted on either side.

The humidstat should be installed above the humidifier so that way it only senes the house air, not the air already had humidity added.

??? Do you mean to turn off the humidifier when the furnace shuts off?

Put the sail switch in the main return, the wire from the humidiastat to the switch, then from the switch to the valve.

On the cold air for sure about 4 'or 5' up the line from where the humidifier is .
On that sail switch I think you will find that it all works better if you use a A50 relay on the blower wires to turn the unit on and off when the blower is running.Sail switch get dirt in them and tend to hang up lots. Also they work better if you tap into a hot water line and dont get so much stuff in them. If you can
