I have a DVD player that is only about 1 1/2 years old. It is a medium-priced one (more than $200 but less than $500). Can't remember the make and model right now as I am at work, but can get it if needed. About 1 in three movies that I rent, it has problems (the movie will get stuck, and/or the digital blocks will get all screwed up on the screen, and/or it will skip parts). I figured it was due to the moview being rentals (which mean multiple viewings), but some of my own DVD movies also have this same problem. Last night, I went to play a CD, and it also started to skip. I tried the same CD in my son's Mickey Mouse portable CD player, and it worked perfectly, so it wasn't the CD. I have one of those DVD cleaner discs that you put in and run for a while, but it doesnt appear to fix the problem. I am wondering if there is something else that I could/should do to fix the problem, before I relent and take it to a repair shop. I have not taken it apart yet, as I have never doen that before and didnt want to screw something up if the experts tell me that I should not do that.
Please advise if anyone else has had similar problems with their DVD players, and if there is something that I could/should do to hopefully fix it on my own.
