Last winter my husband installed a humidifier on our furnace. Lasko I believe, which I'm thinking wasn't a wise decision as I can't seem to find any information on it, not even on their website. Anyhow, it seemed to help quite a bit last year with dry air, but this winter it doesn't seem to be doing much. We changed the filter, so I'm not sure why this is happening.

I guess my question is about airflow. The unit is mounted on our cold air return with the flex pipe being ran to our heat duct. Is the flow supposed to go from the cold air return through the unit into the heat duct or vice versa? It seems to be going from the heat duct through the humidifier into the cold air return and this seems pointless to me. If the air is heated, yes it will grab more moisture, but won't passing back through the heater dry it right back out? Obviously I'm not an HVAC tech and it isn't that big of a deal to my husband since he's not the one waking up with bloody noses. If there is something I can do to correct this problem I would very much like to, not just for the dry nose issue, but also so I can say I FIXED IT!! LoL.

Your advice is greatly appreciated.

No, the heater itself does not dry the air - the moisture still will be in the air and will go into your rooms.
As far as I can see the airflow direction is OK. There may be a lot of other problems. Can you measure humidity in your house (using digital thermometer with humidity gauge) and temperature outside? (Also try to measure humidity next to air register). If it is too cold outside and your house is not airtight enough humidity may still be below 30% even with humidifier properly working.

Dont know the name there .Might pay to get another one that works better. You say new filter, You sure you get lots of water to it when its on.Some times the saddle valve jams up. You sure it turns on with the blower. and run ok?
Id check water and if it runs here first. Post back here lets us know if you got it going
