Hi,

I put a heavy coat of poly on the backside of wood parts that will not be accessible after install to seal them. Unfortunately I did this with the parts lying on rosin paper and some finish seeped onto the face of the parts. I'm applying stripper (methylene chloride based) and any thick areas of poly are coming off but the wood is still darker in the areas that had poly on them. Is this normal?I assume some poly is still left in the pores.

I'm planning on finishing the face of these parts with Waterlox. Of course I'll perform a test first but do you think the final finsih will even out?

By the way, I'm using a instant stripper product that is about the consistency of mineral spirits. Is this a good choice for flat parts?

Thanks

OK,

I just remembered that Flexner covers strippers in his book - he says to use a methylene chloride + methanol stripper - mine has acetone. He also says as a last step to use a brass wire bristle brush to get the finish out of the pores.

That book is a gold mine of info.
