Hi .. i have recently purchased several sensors for my Simon II system. I have installed and tested all of them. But the glass breaker (#60-459-319) not sure how to test. I have taken a piece of 1/8" glass and broke it hoping to trigger the alarm .. but that didn't work .. now i don't know if it is not programmed correctly or what? when i program the sytem first you have to put the device type (example for door/window contact it is code 13 and i think for other sensors it was 28) .. i used code 28 .. does that matter? how can i test/trigger the glass sensor?

Well, first of all, 28 is a silent alarm - secondly, it's delayed - thirdly, it has no report. So, you don't want to use 28.

Use 13 and try again. Glassbreaks are the same as window sensors.

To test it, take a set of keys and jingle them in front of the glassbreak. Without a glassbreak tester - that's about the only way to do it.

Good luck!

Check your paperwork. Some of those ITI glass breaks also have a handclap test that just flashes the LED. But Safewatch is right, the ring of keys is a pretty good test (it works as well as the electronic tester for basic testing).
