I have recently remodeled my master bath. I have included shelving in the shower. The entire shower area was done with permabase (wonder board). For the edges of the shelving should I use a metal corner bead or just build out the edge with thinset. My concern is that over time the bead will get wet and rust through. I will be tiling the entire installation. Thank you for any advice.

Dont use the corner bead for the reasons you mentioned. The rust will eventually bleed through the grout. If it absolutely has to be used then paint it with a liquid waterproofing membrane. I would prefer to tape the edges with backerboard mesh tape and flash with modified thinset.
