most efficient type of portable heater?

Hi,

Just wondering what type of heater would be the most efficient to heat a back room of our house?

There is a gas cast iron stove type heater in the kitchen nearby but it doesnt really heat up that room at all.

I was looking at those plug in radiant heaters, are they any good?

Or would it be advisable to just use the gas stove with a fan or something?
