I'm doing a 3 car garage with 5/8 drywall on the ceiling and walls. What size drywall screw should I use. My inspector told me to screw every 7" on the ceiling and 12" on the wall. As for the size of screw, he said "what ever is standard." What size of screw should I use?

Minimum length for your screws should 1-1/8", this will have about 1/2" of the screw anchored into the studs. HTH
