Can someone advise me on how easy or hard it is to change out tub/shower 3-valve faucet systems? I currently have the Pf washer-type and would like to install the ceramic washerless-type (AStd or Pf); can the brass valve body be replaced easily without the need to call a plumber or is it tricky?
I have changed stems, seats, and washers before but I have never messed with the brass valve.
Thanks,
Brian

If you (know how to and) are experienced at soldering copper to brass, and have good access from the wall behind the tub/shower unit, it's not that difficult to sweat out the old and solder in the new.
If the answer is "no" to either of those questions, than an answer by anyone else of whether it's "easy or hard" would be only a guess, as with anything else. Only you can decide whether to DIY or call a plumber.
Good luck!
Mike

Mike,
I do have pretty good access to the valve body behind the wall through a trap door in the closet; the brass valve appears to have threaded couplers and nipples; I don't see any copper pipe connections that need to be sweated.
What do you think?
Is there a certain procedure you recommend to change it out?
ThankS
