I'm new to this site so it may have been discussed previously, but why do so many people hack on normandy shutters? Is it sole due to them being made in China or is it more? It just so happens that we have six of them currently on order from a local dealer that are due to arrive in a few weeks. The samples that the seller had sure looked like they were very high quality shutters and the price on them was very good. ($30 bucks a square foot as compared to the other u.s. made shutters that were around $45 bucks a sq. foot.)

Can a few of those that have hacked on the normandy shutters perhaps shed some light on what the problems with these shutters are that they know of? Is there anything I should be looking for specifically as far as potential problems when the guy comes to install?

I was very happy with making the purchase but now that I've found this message board and read a few of the comments on the normandy products, I'm getting a little worried.

lots of views of this post but no reply's. I'm feeling better about my purchase and am starting to assume it's just the 'made in china' label that some people objected to but nothing involving quality.

Many problems with any shutter starts with incorrect measuring . Some manufacturers and installer and sales people will mak mistakes . However , a professional measure is where one should start . Profesional measuring will prevent overlooks , like handles offset framing , clearences . Then find your product . A good shutter will work fine for awhile . A great shutter will be strong for years to come . Take note of all who will be using the shutter . Some knowledge is required for all window treatments . Using with lots of care will extend life of treatment . Finding a shutter that can be installed securely is a must .
