electric hot water tank/heater

My electric hot water tank/heater is aprox 10 years old and has worked excellent over the years.All of a sudden it seems to be putting out cooler water.Do I waste time messing with elements or just go and replace the whole unit? How long should one of these units last anyway?

10 years is pretty good for a water heater. If they are flushed and drained once a year they can go for quite a while. Water conditions have a say in it too. When things start going, it's time to start thinking new. Good luck.
