Hi,
I've got an Aprilaire 560 that's been working fine for 3 or 4 years. I've maintained it properly each year. This year it started not working correctly - it wouldn't turn on when the blower went on. If I turn the humidistat up enough the water will start to run even if the blower isn't on and it will just run and run. I replaced the current sensing relay and tested it - when the blower came on the very first time the water started to run, but then it never shut off and I was back where I started...so something else must be wrong. I know it's wired correctly as it's worked right for years before now. My question is should I try replacing the humidistat next or should I try replacing the solenoid valve or something else?
If I should change the humidistat is a fully automatic humidistat (Aprilaire #56) worth the extra $30 or so? Do they work well? Thanks very much for any advice.

If you got a meter, take a reading at the solenoid valve to see if there is power.. If there is no power, and the water is going though, then the valve may have to be replaced.
If you got reading at the valve, and the stat is turned off, then something is shorting out on you. Need to trace back to the relay or the stat to see where the power is coming from.

When you have it on and the water is running pull the wires off the humidistat. If the water dont stop then it in the solenoid. On some of them you can take it apart and just clean the shaft that works in it,and some you cant.
