Actually, on it it says Coal/Wood Air Conditioner .. lol
Anyhow, I bought a beautiful old 1915 Farm House here in Michigan. Many unique things found in it. For one, even though I have an almost new furnace and central air unit, they left this old coal/wood burner furnace still hooked up. The new and old furnace both share the same duct work.
When my house was inspected prior to finalizing the sale, the inspector looked at the old furnace and said that with some liner work, I could use it.
What do you guys think? This thing is monstrous. It has even been upgraded at some point to contain blowers and filters. It appears that if I want to remove it, I will have to get someone with a cutting torch and take it out in pieces and then re-do some of the duct work.
Thanks,
Chris

hi, if your inspector meant that all it needed was some firebrick lining in the burning chamber, then I would get some from the home center (it's pretty cheap) and use that baby to heat your basement. make sure it is flued properly and clean. I would also install a carbon monoxide/SMOKE detector to be on the safe side. good luck...KEEP IT!

I think that is all I need. It seems that it is all flued and ventilated properly. I probably should have my chimney checked also.
Thank you,
Chris
