Hi,
Has anyone heard of condensation forming on the inside of a brick chimney?
My old oil furnace was replaced with a condensing gas furnace & the old flue was capped off. I now have water that runs down & gets on & inside my new furnace. The flue has been cappped on the roof also. However,my furnace guy thinks that heat is escaping upward & forming condensation. However, I have never discoverd the water except during a hard rain. Since I don't need the flue anymore, is there a way to feasibly fill in the hole from the rooftop & eliminate the flue cap? The chimney is brick with a glazed tile liner, about 40 years old.
Any ideas or suggestions would be gratly appreciated!
