View Full Version : ralph lauren faux finish looks
We are about to paint our living room and we were considering a faux look. Ralph puts out this process of antiqued suede. Has anyone had experience with this process and is it as easy as the video in the paint stores say it is? :D

The suede is the only product of theirs that I will use. It is a very nice finish and very easy to apply. However, It does scratch! It is like a chalk board, which I don't mind because it adds to the character of the finish, like a worn leather jacket. Do not use a protective top coat to the finish unless you do a sample first, because it will alter the finish. And you do not have to use their special rollers or brushes to get the effect.

I used this product and will never use a Ralph Lauren product again. As posted earlier it turns out like a chalkboard... Every little touch leaves a print or a scratch! If you will never touch your walls than this is fine... But areas near door knobs and light switches will show wear constantly. I painted my master closet with it and it was a BIG MISTAKE. I will eventually use it as a base and cover it with a faux technique... Probably ragging, to cover it's flaws and laousy wear characteristics.
Stay away from this product!

Just painted my daughters living room with RL river rock paint. It was very difficult to get good coverage. Had to give it 3 coats and end result was chalky and scratches off easily. I heard from the pro's at home center that the suede was even worse to work with. I wouldn't recommend it.
