Hello all, Great forum with great knowledge.

I need specific cable hookup info. I've search the web and got no where. Even my manuals are in greek.

I have the following equipment below online with Time Warner Cable:

TV = Hitachi Model #51F500HDTV
DVR Receiver = Explorer8000HD (DVI cabled output to TV input for HD)

I just purchased a Panasonic Home Theater System Model #SA-HT700.
Now I'm lost on how to plug it up with the above equipment and make it work right.

thanks for any & all help.

If you have the system I think, then return it and purchase separate components. That system lacks a digital input to get dolby digital sound from the HD channels. Its early and I've only had one cup of coffee, so I could be wrong about the inputs.
That system will will play DVDs in dolby digital as the DVD player is built in.
If you are happy watching HD without the 5.1 surround sound, then run the audio from the DVR to the panasonic using stereo cables. To watch DVDs. hook up component (green, blue, red) cables to the tv. If, however, you want to get the most out of the HD, upgrade to a receiver that has mulitple digital audio inputs (either digital coax or fiber optic).

1. Run the Video from your TW box to the tv.

2. Run the Audio from your TW via optical or coaxial digital cable to your receiver. (If your receiver doens't support those inputs, get a different one).

The most complicated part of these setups is telling the receiver inputs to operate in Dolby Digital. They are all different, so I suggest you read your receiver manual from cover to cover. I've done 100 of these setups, and I still read the reciever manuals.

Thank you to all who helped me.

I'm online and enjoying it. I took the advice and patched the DVR to the HT and all is working well. I just wished I had known more before buying this version. Now I have an Optical cable, that I bought for the DVR output to HT input, and no where to use it.

Thanks again to all.
