what if your car gets totalled out and you are not happy with their offered settlement? Are there any options? thx :(

In order to consider whether the offer is fair you have to do research on the average selling price of the car.

You need to gather as many examples of the same vehicle with similar miles on it and in similar condition.
You must have an online buy and sell in your area to do this.
Just print as many examples as you can.

I wrote off an older full sized van awhile ago and increased the amount I got by 30% by doing this.

Because, contrary to any of their advertising, insurance companies are in business to make money - lots of it - and the less they have to pay for losses, the higher their profits.

You should see all the hassles people are having down here in the "Charlie zone" trying to get fair value on their hurricane damaged properties.
