Hand made paper finish??????

I saw on a tv show once a very nice technique of applying hand made paper as a wall covering. I have a dresser that I want to try this on. Now, I imagine that you would use wall paper glue? Do you have any suggestions on whether or not I could do this finish on wood and how I would make is stay?

Also, if this wouldn't work, any suggestions as to something fun to do with this old dresser? I love the dresser but it looks awful and I don't want to just have a boring wood dresser....thanks!
