We don't use our gas fireplace at all, but in the last couple of years when we would turn it on and let it run for maybe 10 or 15 mins we get a really musty odor coming from it. Our next door neighbor, whose house was built by the same guy has torn his fireplace out and found that it was not sealed properly and it was getting wet and moldy. Does this sound like the most likely source of our problem? Does anyone know what may be causing this odor?

Hi
I would call a serviceman to check it out.
Gas is not something to fiddle around if you don't know what your doing.
Carbone monoxide is toxic.
Be safe call a technician over.
