I am building a new interior wall from my bedroom to my bathroom. It is not very big 51"x 91. My question is drywall options....is there anything other than the gypsum boards that I can use: they are so heavy and I am doing this on my own.
One other question in my bathroom is a door that leads to the bedroom. As I mentioned above I am building a new wall and will take this door off. But I would like open it up to the ceiling so it dosen't look like a door way. Can a wall with a door be load bearing I don't want to do anything to damage the structure.

Well you can always go with a Decoritave Paneling that you can find at Home depot or lowes!!!
It will be Lighter and once hung it's finished no need to finish drywall or paint.....

As Far as the door goes you should be fine removing it it's just a single door.

YES Load bearing walls can have opening's to them
They just require Jack Studs and headers to support the load transfer.

Yes, I agree on the paneling idea. I ran across that after posted this thread. I am going to do that.
Concerning the door, I think I will just remove it and not try to cut the opening to be any higher just incase it is load bearing
would hate to have the ceiling start sagging on me. Thanks....I'm going to have a busy 3 day weekend....
