When I pull up the little dingy in the bath spout (?) that switches from bath to shower the seal leaks. This reduces shower pressure. I assume it is dirty but I can't figure out how to clean it without removing the spout which I don't know how to do.

Chaimlavan, Welcome to The DIY Forums.
Not sure what "seal" you are talking about. If you maen the one at the end of the spout where it meets the wall, you will have to remove the spout.
Look under the spout near the wall and see if there is a slot there. If so, there is a screw that holds the spout onto the supply pipe. Loosen it and the spout will slide off. If no slot, The spout screws on. Turn it counterclockwise (as you are looking at it) and it will unscrew. You will probably have to remove the caulk seal at the wall as it will be easier to turn. You may need to buy a new spout. If so, take the old one with you so you know the distance from the back of the spout to the start of the threads is the same on the new one. Good luck.
