The hot water from my tub has a continuous leak. When i turn on the hot water from the sink, the leak in the tub stops. I have turned the hot water valve from the sink off..that helps none. I don't want to have to shut hot water heater off during the day...can you help please!! THANK YOU!

132oakst, Welcome to the DIY Forums.
It appears that you have a bad washer (if 2 handle faucet) or bad cartridge (if it is single control) and it will need changing or repair.
The reason it stops when you turn on the sink is that you are directing the pressure from the tub to the sink. When you turn off the valve at the sink you really aren't changing anything so it still leaks. Good luck.

What type of tub faucet do you have?
Brand? Single-handle? Dual handle?
You probably only need a valve washer or a cartridge to repair the leak.
Please describe what you have, and we'll try to help you.

There should be a cold water shutoff valve on the water heater. If you turn that off, the hot water will be shut off. Please turn off whatever energy source powers the water heater (gas/electric). It is very easy to forget it is still on with the water off and cause a BIG problem.
