Hi guys;
I know that Majakdragon answered this question on a previous post but I need some clarification. I am redoing a bathroom with a wood floor in a 1920's built house. The previous floor was all wood and deterioated. They were taken up and new boards are to be put down put down. At present the toilet sits level with the plywood underlayment that I put down. When I put down the Bruce replacement floor, the floor will be raised the thickness of the boards and some underlayment ( about 1/2").
The pipes are all cast iron and standard size. Majakdragon had posted a link, that I went to, on flanges and here lies my question. Which one !?? LOL!! Should I use a 1, or 2 ", flange that will go into the present pipe and raise the level, and how do I seal the inserted flange to the cast iron pipe? Do some of these inserted flanges have rubber seals and meant for older homes?
I assume that the insert (male) will go into the present pipe(female) and the new flange aligned with the old and screwed to the floor and that the horn of the toilet will have the wax ring and all bolted down .
Sorry seems basic but plumbing is not really my forte. It actually was my late fathers gig not mine.
I know it sounds lame, but HD is no longer a option for information and hardly any of the front men at my local plumbers store speaks enough english for me to get any info. All I get is, "I come fix". Normally no problem but not for this.
