I acquired a used Vista-128FB control panel and am trying to program it. I believe I have it mostly programmed. I have three FA560KP keypads that I successfully got working (one for programming of course); all for one partition. I plugged in the 5881EN with an address of 07, added it in the devices programming mode as an RF reciever. Then added the only two wireless transmitters I have as zone 1 and zone 2 in the partition (with their addresses). However, I cannot seem to get the system to recognize the wireless devices. Is there some extra programming for the 5881 or some other step to enroll the transmitters? When I falut the transmitters I see the 5881 blinking but nothing happens (is shown on the keypad or triggers an alarm when armed). Sorry, I am a newbie but fairly technical - NOT when it comes to alarm systems though - even though I have all the manuals. Please help!!!! :)

Try changing the device address to 06 instead of 07, device type is a 3. Change the zone numbers to the next available open zone, instead of 1 & 2, as I suspect there are already devices on those zones. Zones are numbered overall, instead of by partition.
When you program the zone, make sure input type is a 3 (wireless transmitter). Then enter the serial number (or just use a magnet to trip the device). It should work.

If I remember ademco wireless right, the wireless devices cannot overlap the hardwired zones on a lot of the panel models. You may have to move up to zone 10 ( 9 isreserved for something as well). I have a vague memory of ademco all wireless systems always starting with zone 10.

Despite what the control panel sticker says (it shows the circuit board for a 5881), the circuit board in the reciever is a 5882-3ENL. From what I understand, this is for Canada - whatever that means. However, the install PDF from Ademco says they operate on the same frequency and make no mention about how they might be different...or not.

Are the 5881 and 5882 the same? Do they, or should they, be compatible with the same transmitters?
