DVD Player hookup

I was given a DVD player as a gift. It's a Daewoo DVG-5200S. For the life of me cannot get this thing to work. All I can get is a black and white scrolling picture with sound. I have a cable box, VCR and TV. The TV is an older model and didn't have any "input" for the basic audio/video cable. There is an S-Video output, but I have no "input" on anything.
to make a long story short, I switched televisions from another room to one that had a basic audio/video input. I thought for sure this would work. But no luck. Even hooking the DVD directly to the television STILL gives me nothing but a scrolling black and white picture with sound. :wall: Am I missing something? :confused: Or is this DVD player trash? I'm ready to go buy another television if it would help.

If you are able to connect the DVD player to someone else's T.V that is more modern, check in the menu that the output is set to composite (Cinch) and not RGB.

That DVD player is not great, but assuming it hasn't failed, it should work.

I agree with Joshi that you may have a setting in the dvd player incorrect. Did you read the manual? It may say how to change the output type with the remote. If not, you may have to connect it to a tv with svideo or component inputs.

I had posted on another board about my situation and was told I probably had it set for the "wrong television" and that I needed to go through the menu and change it. Well, I couldn't see the menu because of the scrolling screen. Using the manual, I blindly guessed pushing buttons on the remote and after a few minutes, I had a clear screen.
