Dear Readers:

I am currently renting and have noticed that there were termites. I have brought it up to the Landlord but nothing has been done. Now in the last 3 months I have discovered that there are termite droppings my end end part of my sleigh bed and only in that wood. We put wet towels over that part of the sleigh.

Is it the house? Has it infected the bed? Is it because of the wetness?

We think about moving to a condo we bought and dont want to infect it since we did inspections and it does not have termites or anything.

Is there any way of do it yourself?

PLEASE HELP!

hi
boy ok for a start wet will attract more termite.
the place must be dry.
as for the bed go at home deport and get the termite spray killer and pray it on real good.
You might get some liquid type and apply it with a brush
I would consult and exterminator and see what involve to get rid of them.
Also tell your landlord you will contact and attorney for damages cause.

hope this helps

Since you are in Miami, you may have drywood termites. You would notice a small pile of fecal pellets under a kick out hole. If this is the case. I would contact an exterminator and see if the furniture could be treated with heat. I wouldn't want to be sleeping in a bed that had a bunch of over the counter spray on it. I doubt you could prove that the bed had been infested in your present location. Three months would not be much time to establish a large termite population. Good luck, Rick.

I second the reply of 78669. If this is termite damage it is likely the drywood termite. The wet towels would not contribute to the infestation. They can be treated with heat or fumigation. Don't treat the bed with insecticide - you don't want to be sleeping on/near insecticide. Consider also that this could be something else. Look for other evidence of termite activity such as fecal pellets (droppings) or the termites themselves. Don't treat until you are certain. Also, check your previous residence for drywoods. This infestation (if real) likely started more than 3 months ago. You probably would not notice a three month old infestation. Good Luck.
