I just bought a 5 y.o. modular home. When I take a shower the is a noticable dip around about the center of the tub. Upon closer inspection it has hairline cracks only in the dip. It also squeeks when you move around in the tub especially twords the drain.

It seems to me that the tub is not properly supported underneath. It has yet to leak into my basement. Is their something I could use to seal it? Can it be supported? Or is best to rip it out and put in a new one.

PS. It's an acrylic, seamless, all in one shower & tub.

Your Thought Are Appreciated!

Those are stress cracks from improper installation of tub when first installed.

You can pack mortar underneath the tub to keep this situation from continuing, but if your up to the task, replace the tub and lay down a bed of mortar to set tub in. The tub will be as sturdy as cast iron.

I know this sounds stupid but I'm just learning how to do alot of home repairs, how do you get under the tub? Do I have to cut out the drywall?

Either way, thanks for your comments. At least now I know it's not me & others have experienced it.

Where the trap comes through the floor, there will be an opening, either access from behind the tub wall where the faucet is, or go from underneath, the back wall is a great deal easier.
