I need to paint several rooms in the house. What do I paint first the wood trim or the walls? And dose it make a differance where I start?

Rule of thumb - start at the top and work down.
That means ceilings first, then walls, then woodwork.
Start in a corner.

While I agree with the previous poster in regards to top down, I think it is easier, and quicker, to do the trim before the walls. Trying to get a brush to sit on a tiny edge of trim can distract one from cutting a good line. Of course the baseboard will have to wait for last.

I also aggree top > down, but as greenvandan said,

I highly agree.
Ceilings first, then trim (except baseboards), then walls, then base.
