We have pink steel cabinets (from probably the 50's) which are in great condition. We wanted to paint them white to brighten and modernize the kitchen. Any suggestions on what paint I would need and preparation involved? Do I need to strip the existing finish first?

Many thanks!

If the existing coating is in good shape you can just lightly sand with 300 grit and repaint. The sanding gives the new paint something to grip on.

Any rust, chipped paint, bare metal needs to be prepped before topcoating.

Use paints designed for metals.
