I would like to paint a cabinet that was covered with laminate. The laminate is off but the glue is left, any ideas on how to get the glue off or what to prime it with before painting?

Try lacquer thinner, Naptha, denatured alcohol, or a product called GOOF-OFF. One of these solvents should work. Hopefully you won't have to go to the final option ......blow-torch and putty knife.
