View Full Version : Zone valve motor replacement

I have a 3 zone system with Honeywell zone valves. In the last couple of weeks I noticed that one zone wasn't getting any hot water. I looked at the zone valves and found that on the zone that wasn't working, I couldn't move the switch that reads "Auto" vs "Manual". I assume that means something is wrong with that motor since the system was working fine and nothing has been changed anywhere in the system. I was thinking to put on a new valve motor but wanted to see if there were any tricks or stumbling blocks. Also, does replacing the valve motor sound like a reasonable approach? Thanks for any help.

The motor is the least expensive way to repair that valve. You can replace the whole head but probably don't need to. When you buy a motor, you get 2 wire nuts and a new screw to hold it on. It is a piece of cake to replace.
