I have an old vanity and chest of drawers that were in my grandmothers house. The wood veneer on the vanity is in some sad shape, it has water rings, bubbled up, cracked and peeling. The veneer on the chest, has some spots where it had started to peel and is just broke off. I love refinishing stuff on my own, but I don't know if this is possible. What should I do and how do I go about it!

I would glue those pieces back down with yellow wood glue. Titebond I or II will work just fine. You can clamp them down using blue painters tape. Allow to dry for 24 hours and then strip the piece like you normally would.

If there are black marks from the water stains, you can use oxcilic acid.
