My fireplace when not in use seems to leak cold air, I mean, today is (-37c) and I can see traces of frost on my insert. I am a very new homeowner and never owned a fireplace so my knowledge is limited, I have vents above and below the opening, I feel cool air entering from the bottom vent. Is there something I can inspect or do to help this :?:

hi
is it a gas fireplace or wood type.
if wood check and see if the damper is close.
i would try to place a carboard panel in front of the fireplace to block air

cheers

hello
1) wood
2) It sure is
3) Ok, but take it off when having a fire?
What about those two knobs I have on the sides of the insert (beside the doors), they seem to rotate and migh possibly pull out.

hi
yes remove the carboard when you make a fire.
what about then 2 knobs you have 2 doors on this fireplace front.
then close them i think the knobs is to lock them together when turn like a latch

cheers

The two knobs do pull out and push open, yet still unsure as to what prupose they serve...do they lock the doors? not that I can see.

ps, I do not have a digital camera, I will take one with regular camera and scan, might be a couple of days before developing though.
