I want to antique some white bedroom furniture, and I'd like the top coat to be white. I've looked up directions on how to antique, but none of them have any suggestion as to what the basecoat should be. From pictures I've seen it seems like the basecoat is usually green? But can that be varied? I like the pics I've seen, but I'm a little wary about just putting green underneath without knowing for a fact that this is done. In short (too late), how can I choose the color?

The base color is whatever you want it to be. There is no "Standard" for a base color.

Ok perfect! Those pics you posted in that other thread .. how did you do that white one if you don't mind?? DSC01515 is what the pic is titled.

Cammie, just follow the instructions I gave her on how to do the red sample.

The one you like is White Paint with a Vandyke Brown glaze. Same processes as the Red Sample.
