I have painted using (semi gloss) i believe the doors of my place...and everywhere where i painted it, it has peeled. I also painted semi gloss in the bathrooms, and it 2 'wants' to peel if it gets scratched etc.
I am going to repaint the bathrooms and just replace the doors.
for the bathroom, i am not puting in a semi gloss at all.
1. should i sand the current paint off? or just make it 'rough' to get a good take on the walls?
2. if i sand, what grit of sand paper should i use? ...i'm trying to avoid having to re sand the entire bathroom (Because there are 2 of them) and that seems like a major pain!!!

First the doors - Were they already painted or were they stained? What prep did you do on the doors? Its not the sheen (semi-gloss) that causes the peeling. Its the prep (or lack of) that causes the peeling.
Now the bathroom walls - how good is the existing paint? How long has it been since the last time they were painted? Are the walls shiny or flat?
A light sanding won't hurt, followed by a good primer. If you sand, get a sanding pole. A sanding pole makes quick work of the sanding.
As always - don't skimp on the tools or the paint.
Since its a bathroom, do consider a bathroom paint. They have midewcide in them.

Yep. Sounds like latex was applied over an oil.

The doors, i was dumb at the time i did the first painting, i figured they where white, so why not just put white over them again...i should of put a primer on them....from what i have read.
the bathroom, the same thing...i didn't put a primer over it also....so far it seems to have stayed on for the most part...the paint is shiny, i didn't put a bathroom paint on the first time a year ago...but i did put that midewcide packet that you can get at HD in it...it worked fine in my bathroom, but the guest bathroom that my other roomates used, it got moldy...i think its because they always closed the door after they where done and it kept the humidity in it...
if i get bathroom paint, will i be able to get the same color as 'normal' paint that i want?
