I bought a new exterior doors that has hinges that are primed white. I see that the original surface is brass and that's the color I want. How can I strip off the primer to display the original serfuce? I tried soaking in paint thinner but no luck at all. Any tips are appreciated!

Soak them in paint 'stripper', not thinner. Or lacquer thinner will work also.
