We have a log burning fireplace. It was recently cleaned but we are now experiencing a nasty smell from the fireplace days after using it. Does anyone know how to get rid of this odor? Thanks.
If you're talking about the wood-burned smell, and not a dead animal in your flue, this may help:
How soon after the fire do you close the flue? Try leaving it open a day or two afterwards. Not the best to conserve energy, but if you have a good set of doors for the firebox you can open the vents and it will help get rid of the smell.

You said you had it cleaned. It could just be a residual smell from what was removed from the chimney. It should clear up on its own. When a chimney is cleaned it is brushed, not scrubbed out. This will leave a small amount of residue on the surface. Good luck.
