I have some paint failure in my shower area. The sheet rock is solid but the paint is blistering from improper cleaning solutions. I would like the strip the paint off the area and re-prime and paint. The walls have one application of a bathroom type paint (semi-gloss, not sure of brand) and primer underneath. Is there a good stripping product or one that's better than the rest type of product I can/should use. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Normal household cleaning products shouldn't cause the paint to blister. What was used to clean the walls?

Usually, paint failure is caused by a poor bond or the bond is broken by water getting into the sheetrock.

I wouldn't strip the walls. Clean the area well. No, don't use any more cleaning products. Plain water should do it. Let it dry thoroughly. Remove any loos paint. Prime it. Skim coat and prime again. Now top coat.

Don't use cheap tools or cheap paint.

I agree with Bob, but would recommend using a penetrating alkyd primer for durability.
