As I am new to this Forum, and don't know how to post messages I am replying to this thread, with a question of my own
We have a Vaillant Calor Gas Combi with a "closed system"?
The boiler stopped working and I found the "pressure" was down.
I topped up the presuure using the water tap, but everytime the boiler runs, the pressure drops.
On opening up the front of the boiler there is an "expansion tank" with a thread like a wheel tyre valve.
What do I do with this?
Can anybody help please?

Bryan,

I have edited your post to delete your e-mail address, not allowed in DIY Posts.

To start a new thread, in the top left corner of any forum is a link that says "New Thread", clicking on that link will open a new thread.

If you would like to receive an e-mail when someone replies to your post, you can also set that up by clicking in the blue toolbar above on the link "User CP" which is the User Control Panel.

The tire valve on the expansion tank is a schrader valve. It should have 12 psig pressure when checked with a tire gauge. If you get water out of the valve, the bladder inside the tank is ruptured, and the tank will need replaced.
If it is low on air, use a bicycle pump to pump it up to 12 psig.

If you want to search for other posts about expansion tanks, at the top right of the listing of posts is a link for "Search the Forum", and you can type in the search words "expansion tank" and click search, and it will show you a list of search terms. This is explained in a post Sticky, and the beginning of the forum postings.

Good luck,
